Under the new provision, a 35-year-old U.S. Environmental Protection Agency policy would be extended for another year. It would shield timber companies from the cost of designing stormwater control systems for logging roads under the federal Clean Water Act. Landowners will not be required to get federal permits to build logging roads. More
